What does CHATEAU STE MICHELLE Own?
Chateau Ste. Michelle was founded in Woodinville, Washington in 1954 from the merger of National Wine Company (founded in 1934 in Seattle, Washington) and Pommerelle Wine (founded in 1935, also in Seattle). The company was originally named American Wine Growers, before rebranding as Chateau Ste. Michelle in 1974, when it was purchased by US Tobacco. In 2009, Altria (fomerly known as Phillip Morris) purchased US Tobacco. In 2021, they sold the Chateau Ste Michelle portfolio to private equity firm Sycamore Partners for $1.2 billion. In late 2025, Sycamore sold several of the Chateau assets to Washington-based Wyckoff family, led by Court Wyckoff.
