Kosta Browne Winery was founded in Santa Rosa, California in 1997 by Dan Kosta and Michael Browne Dan Kosta, Chris Costello, and Michael Browne. In 2015, the winery was sold to J.W. Childs Associates, who later sold the brand to Duckhorn Wine in 2018, at the time owned by TSG Consumer Partners. In 2021, TSG took the Duckhorn company public at $15 a share. In 2024, private equity group Butterfly Equity took the company private for $1.95 billion.
