Mumm Napa was founded in Napa, California in 1979 by Seagrams as an offshoot of their G.H. Mumm Champagne brand. They later sold both brands, along with their other champagne brand Perrier-Jouët, in 1999 to US private investment firm Hicks, Muse, Tate & Furst for $310 million. Those investors flipped the purchase to Allied Domecq the following year. The brands were finally sold to Pernod Ricard in 2005. In 2025, Pernod Ricard split Mumm Napa from G.H. Mumm when it sold the Napa brand to Trinchero Family Estates.
